About DigSense LLC
Greater insight comes with experience.
Michael Muilenburg, the founder of DigSense, has been a leading innovator in the damage prevention industry for 24 years. He literally worked his way from the ground up, starting as a utility locator and progressing to Mapping Data Manager, and Technical Projects Manager. Muilenburg ultimately became Director of GIS for the largest underground utility locating service in the world.
Over the years, technology has been making great advancements. Unfortunately, basic 811 locating methods are still generally relying on the same, outdated practices that have been used for almost 50 years. We all know how time consuming and dangerous entering manholes can be, but we still repeat the old processes every time a locate is called in for busy intersections that could contain multiple manholes.
Change is needed! With advancements in technology, we are now able to record cable locations to centimeter accuracy as we locate the facilities. If the manhole facility location data is collected at the time of the locate, this info will be available to quickly mark the manhole facilities the next time a locate needs to be done. This would save hours of time per locate. The same can be said for utilities that have very poor, or no GIS mapping data. Your system can be located and data used for the foundation of a much improved GIS mapping system.
With his knowledge, experience, and creativity, Michael Muilenburg has played a key role in technological innovations that save companies time and money, while supporting employee safety and accuracy in the field.
